Each year, ASL graduates about 100 students who usually take the July exam in 20 or more jurisdictions. However, the majority of ASL's graduates take the bar exam in and around the surrounding areas, including Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, and West Virginia.

The Appalachian School of Law received full accreditation from the American Bar Association in 2006, meeting multiple bar passage Standards as set forth by the ABA. Since 2006, the law school has experienced an average bar-passage rate for first-time test-takers of 69.23 percent, with exam pass rates ranging from 85 percent (July 2008) to 60 percent (July 2006).
