Professor Baker moderates panel at Governor’s Conference on Energy.

ASL Professor leads Panel Discussion at the 2012 Virginia Governor's Conference on Energy.

The panel discussion was the Opening Plenary Session for the 2012 Virginia Governor's Conference on Energy, which was held on October 2-4th in Richmond, Virginia. This was the third consecutive year that Governor McDonnell had hosted the conference in Richmond. Virginia is known as the energy capital of the Atlantic Region, and the panel's topic focused on a "Domestic Energy Policy in a Global Energy Environment: A Path Forward." The panel discussed the shifting global energy market and economic demand, the role of natural gas and the current energy boom occurring in the United States, the impact and role of regulation on the mineral and energy industry and striking an important balance, and the future of coal as an abundant domestic energy source and its role in a growing global economy. There were about 300 people in attendance.
