Professor McKechnie talks with Russian law students about free speech in the US

Professor McKechnie will be Skyping with a group of law students from Udmurt State University in Izhevsk, Russia.  He will be discussing the First Amendment's ardent protection of speech on matters of public concern and the concomitant social, political, and policy implications.  His article, The Death of the Public Figure Doctrine: How the Internet and the Westboro Baptist Church Spawned a Killer, 64 Hastings L.J. 469 (January 2013), discusses how the Internet and the Roberts Court's recent decisions may affect this area of free speech jurisprudence.  Professor McKechnie's participation in the exchange was coordinated through the American Bar Association's International Human Rights Committee.
