Since its inception, ASL has distinguished itself by providing students with practical legal experience well before graduation. One way we do this is through our unparalleled externship program, an approach that other law schools are just now implementing.
For six weeks between their first and second years of school, all ASL students earn three hours of academic credit by spending at least 200 hours working under the supervision of an experienced attorney. This allows them to take what they have learned in the classroom during their first year and apply it to the real world. This experience then informs their remaining studies at ASL.
Students are prepared for this experience by completing the externship class at ASL during the second semester.
