Honor Court

Honor Court of Appalachian School of Law

The ASL Honor Court is the judicial branch of the Student Bar Association (“SBA”). The Honor Court’s mission is to serve the SBA by providing written interpretations of the SBA Constitution upon request, by providing oversight for any election recount, and by assisting the school administration in handling any honor code violations.

The ASL Honor Court consists of five members elected by their classmates. Two members are elected from the rising 3-L class in spring elections; the rising 3-L student who receives the most votes serves as Chief Justice of the Honor Court. Two members are elected from the rising 2-L class in spring elections. One member is elected from the 1-L class in fall elections.

The 2003-2004 Honor Court has prepared a handbook that includes copies of its published opinions, procedures, and other information related to its history and work. This handbook will be kept on reserve in the ASL Library for any member of the ASL community to review. The handbook will be updated as the work of the Honor Court continues.
