Challenges for Solar Energy in Virginia

This will be a timely discussion intended for anyone interested in solar power, power purchase agreements, solar grants, and the challenges facing them in Virginia. Ms. Toothman will discuss the Solar Market Pathways Project, pursuant to which 15 independent colleges in Virginia (including ASL) received a Department of Energy grant to assist in the deployment of solar installations.  She will explain where the is project now, what the goals of the project are for 2017, and the on-going obstacles that public utilities pose for non-profit institutions (like ASL) as they seek to obtain affordable solar energy.

Lora joined the Council of Independent Colleges in Virginia (CICV) in 2016 as the Project Manager for the Solar Market Pathways Program. Her responsibilities include facilitating the installation of solar power at Virginia’s private colleges, creating learning opportunities for students, and building a replicable model for solar implementation that can be used by similar organizations nationwide.
