SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 203
On the death of Angela Denice Dales.

WHEREAS, Angela Denice Dales of Vansant, a student at the Appalachian School of Law in Grundy, died on January 16, 2002; and
WHEREAS, a native of Buchanan County, Angela Dales graduated third in her class at Garden High School, then earned her bachelor's degree from Virginia Intermont College in 1992; and
WHEREAS, Angela Dales minored in creative writing at Virginia Intermont, received the Alumni Award, and earned a scholarship from the school for a year's study in Germany; and
WHEREAS, after returning to Virginia, Angela Dales enrolled in the graduate school at Radford University, where she had nearly completed her master's degree in corporate counseling; and
WHEREAS, a recruiter for the Appalachian School of Law, Angela Dales enrolled in the law school in August 2001 and was elected treasurer of Pi Alpha Delta, the first sorority at the school; and
WHEREAS, during the terrible events of January 16, Angela Dales died while trying to warn her classmates of the danger from a gunman who killed three people at the Appalachian School of Law; and
WHEREAS, a loving mother, daughter, and sister, Angela Dales will be sorely missed by her family and by her many friends and admirers in Grundy and throughout Southwest Virginia; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the untimely and tragic death of Angela Denice Dales; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Angela Denice Dales as an expression of the deepest sympathies of the members of the General Assembly.
