Gibson, Whited Join ASL as Regional Admissions Officers

GRUNDY, VA (AUGUST 6, 2019) – Susie Gibson and Hannah Whited have joined the Appalachian School of Law staff as regional admissions officers.

“We are pleased to welcome both Susie and Hannah to our team here at the Appalachian School of Law,” said Dean Sandy McGlothlin. “They will be a definite asset to our admissions office as they work to raise awareness of the benefits of attending law school at ASL and as they work to recruit new students to join us here to pursue their Juris Doctor degrees.”

Gibson holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from the University of Georgia.

She has worked with the Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program in Grundy as the volunteer coordinator, which she said has enabled her to work with many of the ASL students who volunteered as CASA’s.

Originally from Atlanta, she has an extensive background in customer service, including having been a flight attendant with Delta Airlines. She also worked for an architecture firm in administration and management for many years.

“I am excited about joining the ASL team,” Gibson said. “ASL is near and dear to my heart, as my husband is a third-year law student. I look forward to helping its advancement in any capacity, most especially as part of the admissions team.”

Whited, who is a Buchanan County native, attended Grundy High School and then went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in English from Radford University where she graduated in December 2018.

After graduation, she briefly worked in the Buchanan County Public School System at Hurley Elementary/Middle School tutoring students in remedial English before accepting her current position with ASL.

“I’m excited to use my knowledge and passion for our area to aid students in reaching their goals,” Whited said. “I am thrilled to be a part of the ASL team and cannot wait to get started helping students make ASL their home in our beautiful town in the heart of Appalachia.”
