Registration Now Open for ASL Memorial 5K Run/Walk

Grundy, VA (September 18, 2018) — Registration is now open for the Appalachian School of Law Memorial 5K Run/Walk which has been set for Saturday, October 13.

The event is held annually to remember those who lost their lives in the tragic campus shooting that occurred at ASL in January 2002. The inaugural event was held in the spring of 2002.

Sponsors are also still being sought for the race and will be listed on the back of the event t-shirt. To sponsor, donations must be in September 30, 2018. Checks should be made payable to ASL with a notation that the funds are for a 5K sponsorship. All funds raised from the event go to support endowed student scholarships at ASL established in memory of Anthony Sutin, Thomas Blackwell and Angela Dales.

Businesses that would like to donate items for gift bags to be distributed at the 5K may also drop by those items at the ASL admissions office by September 30.

On race day, medals will be awarded to the top finishers in each race category which will be announced at the start of the race. Medals will also be awarded to the top overall male/female walker finishers.

Registration on the day of the event will begin at 7 a.m. in the ASL Lions Lounge, with an 8 a.m. event start time.

T-shirts are guaranteed for those who pre-register prior to September 30. Those who register after that date or on the day of the race will not be guaranteed a t-shirt. T-shirts will be distributed on race day while supplies last.
