Meet John R. Gent: ASL Class of 2029

Appalachian School of Law is proud to welcome John R. Gent to the incoming Class of 2029.

Originally from Middlesboro, Kentucky, John earned his undergraduate degree from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. As he explored where to pursue his legal education, he knew he wanted a law school that shared his connection to Appalachia and its people.

“I chose Appalachian School of Law primarily because of my family background within the Appalachian Mountains, as well as the possibility of one day in the future being able to provide counsel for residents in as well as around my hometown,” John shared.

For John, attending ASL is about more than earning a law degree. It is about preparing to return home with the knowledge and skills needed to serve the people and communities that have shaped his life.

We are honored that John chose Appalachian School of Law and look forward to seeing the impact he will make throughout Appalachia as a member of the Class of 2029.
