At Appalachian School of Law, we offer a range of academic programs that are designed to prepare students for successful legal careers. Our programs are rigorous, challenging, and focused on developing the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the legal profession.
Our Juris Doctor (J.D.) program is the cornerstone of our academic offerings. It is a full-time, three-year program that provides students with a broad foundation in legal doctrine and skills. Our curriculum emphasizes experiential learning, with opportunities for students to participate in clinics, externships, and moot court.
By focusing their upper level studies in specific areas of legal education, students pursuing a J.D. degree may earn a certificate in a specific area of study under our J.D. Certificate Program. J.D. Certificates are available in four areas of study: Civil Litigation, Criminal Law & Litigation, Family Law, and Natural Resources. These certificates inform prospective employers that a student’s legal education, in addition to fulfilling the general requirements necessary to receive the Juris Doctor degree, has been concentrated in a specific area.
