Appalachian School of Law is pleased to announce the creation of the Steven R. Minor Memorial Scholarship. After graduating from the University of Virginia and then the College of William & Mary Marshall-Wythe School of Law, Steve clerked for U.S. District Court Judge Glen Williams before joining the firm that became Elliott Lawson & Minor P.C. in Bristol, Virginia. He had a distinguished legal practice that included expertise in constitutional law, civil rights law, business and commercial law, civil litigation, and state, local & municipal law. Steve passed away on July 15, 2025, at age 60. In addition to his loving family and friends, he left behind a legacy of dedication and excellence in the legal field with a particular love and talent for legal research and writing.
The Scholarship was initially established by his longtime friend and frequent co-counsel, Roy Jessee, and his former law partner, Dawn Figueiras, who is currently a law professor at ASL. Contributions may be made to the Scholarship fund at ASL by sending a check to Appalachian School of Law, 1169 Edgewater Drive, Grundy, Virginia 24614 (please indicate that it is a gift to the Steven R. Minor Scholarship Fund) or via PayPal using this link:
