Appalachian School of Law proudly congratulates recent graduate Arnando Smith (Class of 2026) on his appointment with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Office of the Principal Legal Advisor, where he will serve as an Assistant Chief Counsel.

The Office of the Principal Legal Advisor serves as the chief legal office for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and plays an important role in supporting the Department’s mission through legal counsel, litigation, and administrative advocacy.

Arnando’s appointment represents a significant professional achievement and reflects the dedication, discipline, and commitment to public service he demonstrated throughout his legal education.

Members of the Appalachian School of Law community pursue a wide range of careers in private practice, government service, public interest advocacy, business, and the judiciary. Arnando’s appointment is an example of the many ways ASL graduates contribute to their communities and the legal profession.

We congratulate Arnando on this accomplishment and wish him continued success as he begins his legal career.
