The Appalachian School of Law community came together last week for a courtyard cookout in support of the annual Legal Food Frenzy, a statewide initiative aimed at addressing food insecurity across Virginia.
Students, faculty, and staff gathered to enjoy a shared meal, participate in gift card raffles, and support fundraising efforts benefiting Feeding Southwest Virginia. The event also featured live bluegrass music performed by a group of local musicians, including ASL student Daniel Huff, adding to the sense of community and collaboration.
The cookout served as both a fundraising effort and a reminder of the broader mission behind the Legal Food Frenzy. Across Virginia, 1 in 9 individuals experiences food insecurity, and the initiative provides an opportunity for the legal community to come together to make a meaningful impact.
For the past four years, the Appalachian School of Law has led the Law School Category in the Legal Food Frenzy competition. As this year’s effort continues through May 1, the ASL community remains focused on continuing that tradition while, more importantly, supporting families throughout Southwest Virginia.
Those interested in supporting ASL’s efforts may contribute by visiting the Legal Food Frenzy donation page and selecting “ASL” as their team. Every contribution helps provide critical resources to individuals and families in need.
