Concord University Visit Highlights Alumni Connection to ASL

A recent Appalachian School of Law visit to Concord University offered prospective law students the opportunity to learn more about legal education while also highlighting a meaningful connection between the two institutions.

Dean Will Thompson met with Concord University students to discuss Appalachian School of Law, the law school experience, and opportunities available to students considering a career in the legal profession. Students were able to ask questions about attending law school, life in Grundy, and what they can expect as they begin considering the next step in their education.

During the conversation, Dean Thompson also highlighted the recent experience of ASL third-year student Travis Honaker, who argued before the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia as part of Appalachian School of Law’s partnership with West Virginia Public Defender Services.

The visit was made even more meaningful by the presence of Adam Wolfe, an alumnus of both Concord University and Appalachian School of Law. Wolfe joined the group and offered his own perspective when students asked questions about Grundy and his experience at ASL.

Having an alumnus who has experienced both institutions provided students with a unique connection to the path they may be considering. It also demonstrated how relationships between undergraduate institutions, Appalachian School of Law, and ASL alumni can help future law students better understand the opportunities available to them.

Appalachian School of Law thanks Concord University for welcoming Dean Thompson and ASL and for providing students with the opportunity to explore the possibilities of a legal education.
