Registrar and Financial Aid Coordinator

A dependable, trustworthy, and self-motivated individual is needed to serve as Registrar and Financial Aid Coordinator. DUTIES:

The Registrar directs all functions of the Law School Registrar’s Office.  The Registrar communicates and distributes academic policy and procedures, produces the official catalog, and works closely with the offices of Admissions, Financial Aid, the Deans’ offices, the Business Office, and other departments on all matters requiring coordination and tracking of students, credit hours and financial aid awards and tuition payments. The Registrar’s Office also responds to and handles Alumni requests for transcripts and related information.

The Registrar oversees all aspects of the administration of Law School’s examinations and subsequent recording of grades and calculation of class ranks and grade distributions. The Registrar also arranges and implements appropriate accommodations for students with disabilities.  This may include room reservations and exam proctoring.

The Registrar is responsible for all areas relating to student enrollment, grades, and registration, as well as all aspects of student records and guiding students through the registration process.

The Coordinator oversees institutional reporting compliance (ABA, DOE, IPEDS, SCHEV, LSAC), and record-keeping functions and serves as the SCHEV Reporting Coordinator, IPEDS Data Keyholder, and assists with financial aid reporting.  The Coordinator must stay abreast of the ABA standards and Federal Student Aid Title IV regulations.

The Financial Aid Coordinator works closely with ASL’s third-party administrator to coordinate financial aid awards for students and oversees the federal work-study program.  This individual is responsible for the preparation of various reports to federal, state, and other entities as necessary. This individual may counsel students on debt management strategies and other topics. The Coordinator must acquire and maintain up-to-date training and required certifications.

The Coordinator is expected to establish and maintain positive working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and other constituents of the Law School.  This individual must be able to collaborate effectively with other Law School departments. The Director must present a polished, professional appearance at all times and have unparalleled interpersonal skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required. A Master’s or Juris Doctorate degree is preferred. Previous experience in higher education administration or exposure to legal education and the legal system is highly preferred.  Experience in finance, accounting, and budgeting is helpful.  This individual must be able to analyze and interpret complex data and prepare reports, statements, and/or projections.  This position requires accuracy and attention to detail.  Experience in online use of computers- registration systems, course enrollment; an advanced understanding of database systems and management of those systems is required.  This position requires self-direction and minimal supervision. Overnight travel for training may be required.
