The Appalachian School of Law Criminal Procedure Moot Court team recently competed at the Herbert Wechsler National Criminal Procedure Moot Court Competition hosted by the University at Buffalo.

Facing an exceptionally competitive field of 30 law schools from across the country, our team delivered strong performances in each round, tackling a complex Fourth Amendment issue based on Chatrie v. United States, a case currently before the Supreme Court of the United States. While they did not advance to elimination rounds, their advocacy skills and preparation were on full display in a highly competitive environment.

Team members: Arnando Smith (3L), Travis Honaker (2L), Daniel Huff (2L), and Tyler Starnes (Coach, Class of ’24).

The team also took time to experience Buffalo, visiting Niagara Falls and taking in a Buffalo Sabres NHL game before heading home.

We are proud of the way these students represented ASL and look forward to what’s ahead.
